The Sad Café launches newly donated web site
Site donated to nonprofit organization offering After School
Youth Music Programs & Entertainment
March 11, 2005
Plaistow, NH - Soul Oyster Web Studios (http://www.souloyster.com),
a web design and development firm located in Portsmouth New Hampshire
recently launched a new website for The Sad Café, a nonprofit
organization offering after school youth music programs and entertainment
located in Plaistow, NH.
The Sad Café, named for an Eagles song, was founded in 1997
as a safe, drug-free venue for young amateur musicians to gather
and play before an audience. Since then, The Sad Café has
remained open as a nonprofit, increasing their innovative, after
school programming to seven days a week, with after school programs,
weekend evening entertainment featuring teen bands, teen dances,
music lessons and education, parenting programs and other events.
Additionally, The Sad Café has become a lead agency for the
Sanborn, NH/Timberlane School District Safe and Drug Free Community.
But the organization is in danger of closing its doors permanently
if funds are not raised quickly.
Teens from all over southeastern New Hampshire flood to the Sad
Café to hear bands in an environment among their peers that
they know to be safe and substance-free. Over the course of the
past year more than four hundred teen bands and single artists have
played at the Sad Café drawing over 10,000 area youth, 75%
of whom are teens 14-18 years of age.
The Sad Café is an all ages, non-profit, family friendly,
music and theatre venue. It is located at 148 Plaistow Road/Rte.
125 in Plaistow NH. In addition to the daily after-school programs,
they have weekend performances showcasing local amateur musicians
and actors, plus an extended summer “camp” schedule.
